1. Stable gear – Shot with the 50mm Planar. Light wasn't good inside the stable, so I was shooting wide open, roughly 1/15 to 1/30.

2. Ready to ride – Again, shot with the 50mm Planar either wide open or at f/2.8 because of the lack of light inside the stable.

3. Saddling up – OK, I'll confess I don't know what the real expression is. Again, the 50mm Planar wide open and again with a slow shutter speed. The Planar is a nice lens – it even picked up the small highlight in the horse's eye. Notice the cat ("Mittens") that I mentioned Saturday. He's out of focus – shallow depth of field. I think I was off more than I thought, because the post seems to be the thing that's in focus. Rats.

4-5. Practice – I was trying to make a point or do something different. I don't think it worked, but here are the results anyway. Shot with the Planar, probably somewhere around f/4.0. The lightness you see at the bottom of frame 5 is because the negative was curled. I'll rescan in a few days once the negatives have flattened a bit.

6. Moms watching – They were really talking. I just stuck the camera out and snapped. Zone focus with the 25mm Biogon at either f/8 or f/11. Plenty of depth of field with a 25mm. And I was fairly certain I'd be able to get both in the frame, although I didn't think I would get those stables at the top of the hill.

7. Lesson over – Shot with the 25mm Biogon. Lots of depth of field with this lens. Shot at f/8 or f/11.

8. Mittens and his shadow – This is a crop from the 25mm Biogon. It was from the center right of the photo.

9. Mittens wants a ride – The 50mm Planar has handled a tough situation nicely. I dialed down the contrast just a bit and even then the highlights got blown. This is a shot that would do much better on a wet print. I'm bumping into my scanner's DMax limit.

10. Friends – After the lesson, there's always time for friendship. Note that my brother and I never did this with any of our friends. Must be a female thing. I was walking behind them and knocked off three shots with the 50mm Planar -- probably at f/8.

11. Winston – Moving around a lot while I was trying to shoot him with the 50mm Planar. I think I was shooting wide open again.

12. The office – All newspaper offices look basically the same. This is after everyone had gone home. I'll try this next week when people are there. Got up on someone's desk and shot with the 25mm Biogon.
