I DON'T RECALL the exact details of this photo, which I captured on a trip to Paris in 1980. It was still early in the morning, about 8:30, and we had a few spare minutes, before the tour bus moved to its next location. I looked to my right, and a young boy had just begun to walk down the steps. I didn't say anything to him – I doubt he would have understood my poor attempt at French. The original is in color, and this is the first time I've tried this in black and white. (See a color version of the photo.) Nikon FE, Vivitar Series 1 35-85mm lens, Kodachrome 25.
