Back home again ... : 1/16/2006

Well, it seemed like it's been months although in reality it's been just five weeks or so since I sent my Zeiss Ikon to Hasselblad to inspect the rangefinder system. To recap, when I tripped the shutter, the secondary image would shift slightly to the left or right.

FedEx tried to deliver the camera when I was out of town, so I had to wait until today for them to try again. The problem appears to have been corrected. The papers that came back with the camera didn't explain much, except that my camera had a nice round trip from Pittsburgh to New Jersey to Tokyo and then back again. I notice that they also replaced the missing flash-synch cap, which I lost on the second or third day.

The first thing I did was get it out of the box and test it to confirm that it had been repaired. The second thing I did was go upstairs and find the Luigi half case that my wife gave me for Christmas. OK, SO I GAVE IT TO MYSELF AND PUT HER NAME ON THE PACKAGE!

Luigi does some very nice work, and he was kind enough to include a neck strap. I'll cover everything in a future entry.

That's it for now.

By the way, if you've ever attended the Indianapolis 500, you would know that Jim Nabors usually sings "Back Home Again in Indiana" just before the race.
